4th of July Fireworks Craft

I don't know about you, but I needed a quick, fun craft this year to do with the kids in honor of our nation's birthday. I just wanted to spend the time I would normally spend on crafts and themed food with my family this year (you can check out my 4th of July Pinterest board here). Our entire family is spending a few days at the lake, and it's going to be great, so who needs the extra stress of a big craft?

So, simple and fun 4th of July mini-project to get you in the mood to celebrate but not overwhelm:

You need:
Got that? It's glue, black construction paper and glitter.

Draw fireworks with the glue (on the construction paper).
Sprinkle some glitter over the glue. Different colors are fun, but not necessary.

Shake off the excess glitter. (Onto another paper which you can funnel into a container to save the extra glitter for another day.)
Let it dry. Voila! Simple, fun fireworks for the 4th of July!

Fun variation: have kids use a bit of wet chalk or crayon to draw their fireworks before they use glue. It will make their results even more colorful! (This is also a great option for parents helping younger children- outline where the glue lines might go.)
