Twister Gets a New Twist

(Oh seriously, I just couldn't resist the pun. I am my father's daughter in that respect.)

For today's practice with words, word families, sight words and well... can we just call it literacy? I really struggle to categorize some of the work that we do, especially when it's spontaneous.

I recalled seeing something about a Twister game with words, and later went back to my Pinterest Literacy Board to see where I might have seen such an idea. I think it must have been at Mom to 2 Posh Lil Divas.

The method was simple: I wrote words that we're working with on index cards, then adhered them to the game mat with packing tape. I did the same to the spinner and we were set to play! "Right hand on 'mat,'" anyone?

I also left some circles blank so the younger set could join in the fun. They just had to find the right color.

Why is Eleanor's onsie hanging out? I just don't know.

She discovered that she could find some of the words, even though I hadn't designed the game that way. I should have known she'd create her own way. Smile.
