Creating Gratitude

We are all guilty of feeling entitled to what we have- or worse yet- entitled to things we don't (yet) have. I'm no different. While I try very hard to live a grateful life there are times when I find myself cursing the choices I've made and my lot as well. Haven't we all been there?

The thing is, I don't like living in that space. It doesn't do anyone any good. Honestly, when was the last time wallowing got you any closer to your goals, or made you any happier? So this week I've decided to make gratitude a physical experience for both me and the kids.

For one week, each time we say something less-than-pleasant, each time we take something for granted, each time we wish we were somewhere else, with someone else, doing something else (if any of these circumstances apply)... we put one stone into a basket on the kitchen table and we say aloud one (real!) thing we are truly grateful for. In so doing we are going to turn some of the negative energy in our home into positive, grateful energy, and we are going to create a piece of "art" to remind us that we are amazingly blessed people and that we have a host of reasons to feel that way!
